Verification Of Competency (VOC)

WHAT IS VERIFICATION OF COMPETENCY & WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Verification of Competency, VOC, also known as VOCC- Verification of Current Competency, is a method of assessment that assists employers to meet Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and assures staff are competent to operate equipment or perform a task.

WHS Legislation requires that employers cannot ‘assume an employee is competent’. Most sites in Australia will not deem a worker current against a unit of competency if it is older than 24 months.

A VOC (Verification of Competency) from a 3rd Party training organisation will provide written evidence that an operator has demonstrated the required standard of knowledge and skills to safely and competently operate a particular type of equipment.

WHY ENROL IN A VOC WITH FMS?

Not all VOC’s are created equal. Many training providers will provide a ‘cookie cutter’ VOC program, usually bought ‘off the shelf’. FMS Training’s VOC assessment process is contextualised to each individuals experience, work site requirements, and also mapped back to the current Workplace Health & Safety standards and National Unit of Competency.

We listen to your needs as a business, and are happy to discuss your requirements. Past assessments have involved ‘Mystery Audits’, workplace observations, challenge exams, virtual assessments and more.

Our national assessors are masters of industry, and we pride ourselves on the industry knowledge and expertise of all of our VOC assessors.

We have experience delivering VOC’s onsite to companies Australia-wide. We also deliver VOCs at our training facilities in Lawnton.
